Description
The QN series is a quick-disconnect evolution of the standard N-type interface, designed to meet the high-density and fast-assembly requirements of modern telecommunications. This male (plug) variant is specifically optimized for .141″ Semi-Rigid and RG402 conformable cables, which are preferred for their excellent phase stability and low insertion loss at microwave frequencies. The 90-degree right-angle configuration provides a low-profile footprint, making it ideal for tight routing in cellular base stations, small cells, and modular RF hardware.
This connector features a direct-solder termination for both the center conductor and the outer cable jacket. Soldering the cable’s copper outer conductor directly to the connector body ensures a continuous 360-degree electrical bond, providing maximum shielding effectiveness and minimal VSWR. The QN’s signature snap-on coupling mechanism replaces the traditional threaded nut of the N-connector, allowing for tool-free “Quick-Lock” installation that is up to 10 times faster. Once mated, the connector can rotate 360 degrees, which eliminates mechanical stress on the rigid cable and facilitates easier cable management in congested rack environments.
Key Technical Advantages
-
Rapid Quick-Lock Mechanism: Features a tool-free snap-on coupling that significantly reduces installation time compared to threaded N-type connectors, while maintaining the same electrical performance.
-
360° Rotational Flexibility: Even with rigid .141″ cable, the mated connector can rotate freely, preventing damaging torque from being transmitted to the solder joints or internal PCB components.
-
Superior Microwave Shielding: The direct-solder bond to the cable’s outer conductor provides exceptional EMI protection and high shielding effectiveness, critical for sensitive 5G and LTE paths.
-
Space-Saving RA Design: The 90-degree body minimizes protrusion from the equipment faceplate, allowing for higher port density and cleaner routing in shallow enclosures.
-
Low PIM Performance: Engineered with high-quality materials and a stable contact interface to ensure Low Passive Intermodulation (PIM), essential for multi-carrier wireless networks.
