Description
The QMA series is a quick-disconnect evolution of the SMA interface, optimized for rapid assembly and high-density layouts. This male (plug) variant is specifically designed for .141″ Semi-Rigid and RG402 conformable cables, which are the industry standards for applications requiring superior microwave performance and EMI suppression. The 90-degree right-angle configuration allows for low-profile cable routing in compact enclosures, enabling the cable to run parallel to the PCB or chassis wall to save vertical space.
This connector features a direct-solder termination for both the center conductor and the outer cable jacket. By soldering the cable’s copper outer conductor directly to the connector body, it creates a continuous, 360-degree electrical bond that ensures the highest possible shielding effectiveness and minimal VSWR at microwave frequencies. The QMA’s signature snap-on coupling mechanism provides a tool-free “Quick-Lock” connection that is up to 10 times faster than threaded SMA interfaces, while still permitting 360-degree rotation after mating to eliminate mechanical stress on the rigid cable assembly.
Key Technical Advantages
-
Exceptional Microwave Performance: The direct-solder interface and rigid cable compatibility ensure superior phase stability and low insertion loss for high-frequency RF paths up to 18 GHz (performance dependent on cable grade).
-
Maximum Shielding Effectiveness: The 360-degree solder bond between the connector body and the .141″ cable jacket provides near-perfect EMI protection, critical for sensitive receiver paths.
-
Space-Saving RA Design: The 90-degree body reduces the footprint in tight compartments, allowing for cleaner cable management in modular wireless hardware and base stations.
-
Rapid Snap-On Efficiency: The tool-free “Quick-Lock” mechanism facilitates high-speed assembly and maintenance in high-port-count environments without the need for torque wrenches.
-
Rotational Stress Relief: Despite using rigid cable, the mated connector can rotate freely, preventing damaging torque from being transmitted to the solder joints or internal components.
