Description
RG-141 Sucoform (often referred to as “Handi-Form”) is a specialized microwave cable designed to replace traditional semi-rigid cables. Its defining feature is a tin-soaked copper braid wrapper that creates a seamless, highly shielded outer conductor. This allows the cable to be bent by hand into complex shapes and maintain its form without the need for specialized bending tools or heat treatment, while providing nearly 100% RF shielding effectiveness.
The cable is constructed with a solid silver-plated copper-clad steel (SPCCS) center conductor and a high-stability PTFE (Teflon) dielectric. This combination ensures extremely low signal loss and a high velocity of propagation, even at frequencies exceeding 18GHz. Because the outer conductor is a continuous metal-soaked layer, Sucoform exhibits superior phase stability and low passive intermodulation (PIM), making it ideal for 5G and LTE infrastructure. It is typically terminated with high-frequency SMA, N-Type, or TNC connectors.
Key Technical Advantages
-
Hand-Formable Flexibility: Can be easily shaped by hand during installation and retains its geometry, significantly reducing assembly time compared to semi-rigid cables.
-
Microwave Performance: Operates efficiently at frequencies up to 18GHz (and beyond), providing the low attenuation and high power handling required for advanced RF systems.
-
Exceptional Shielding: The tin-soaked braid provides shielding effectiveness of >100 dB, ensuring zero signal leakage and total immunity from external interference.
-
Silver-Plated Center Conductor: Utilizes the “skin effect” to provide maximum conductivity at high frequencies while ensuring excellent corrosion resistance.
-
High Temperature Stability: The PTFE dielectric and specialized jacket materials allow the cable to operate reliably in high-heat environments common in dense electronic enclosures.
