Description
The transition to an aluminum outer conductor provides a significant weight reduction—often up to 30% lighter than standard copper 7/8″ cables. This makes the cable much easier to manage during complex tower installations and reduces the total mechanical stress on hoisting grips and hangers. The internal architecture remains high-spec, typically featuring a Copper-Clad Aluminum (CCA) inner conductor and a low-loss foam polyethylene dielectric.
To ensure long-term reliability and prevent galvanic corrosion, these cables are encased in a heavy-duty UV-resistant Black PE or LSZH jacket. When paired with specialized aluminum-compatible connectors, they maintain the same high level of shielding effectiveness (>120 dB) and low Passive Intermodulation (PIM) required for modern high-capacity networks.
Key Technical Advantages
-
Significant Weight Savings: Reduces the physical burden on tower technicians and allows for more cabling on weight-constrained structures.
-
Economic Efficiency: Leverages the lower cost of aluminum to reduce total project expenditure in large-scale network deployments.
-
Ultra-Low Loss: Maintains excellent electrical characteristics, with attenuation levels nearly identical to premium copper-based 7/8″ feeders.
-
High Power Capacity: Capable of handling peak power levels up to ~80-90 kW, supporting multiple high-power carriers simultaneously.
-
Enhanced Shielding: The solid corrugated aluminum shield provides 100% coverage, protecting against external interference and signal leakage.
