Description
The 1/4″ feeder cable is available in two primary configurations: Standard (Low Loss) and Superflexible. The Standard version (e.g., LCF14) provides the lowest possible attenuation for fixed runs like microwave IF cabling. In contrast, the Superflexible version (e.g., SCF14) features a more deeply corrugated outer conductor, allowing for a much tighter bend radius, which is critical for routing cables within crowded cabinets or on street-pole small cell installations.
The construction typically consists of a Copper-Clad Aluminum (CCA) or solid copper inner conductor, a high-expansion physically foamed Polyethylene (PE) dielectric, and a solid corrugated copper tube outer conductor. This solid shielding provides shielding effectiveness of >120 dB, protecting the signal from external electromagnetic interference (EMI) and minimizing signal leakage.
Key Technical Advantages
-
Millimeter-Wave Capability: Supports high-frequency operation with a cutoff frequency typically around 18.6 GHz, making it suitable for modern 5G and satellite links.
-
Superior Flexibility: The superflexible variants offer a minimum single-bend radius as tight as 25mm, facilitating installation in highly constrained spaces.
-
Low Signal Loss: The use of high-purity materials and a foam dielectric ensures lower attenuation compared to traditional braided RG-series cables of similar size.
-
Environmental Durability: Protected by a UV-resistant PE or Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) jacket, ensuring a long service life of 20+ years in outdoor or harsh industrial environments.
-
High Intermodulation Performance: The solid corrugated outer conductor ensures excellent PIM (Passive Intermodulation) ratings, which is vital for maintaining network capacity in multi-carrier systems.
