Description
RG-179 is a high-reliability, micro-diameter coaxial cable designed for 75 Ohm systems where space is limited and temperature resistance is required. With an outer diameter of approximately 2.5mm, it is significantly smaller than standard video cables like RG-59, yet it offers superior environmental performance. It features a silver-plated copper-clad steel (SPCCS) center conductor and a high-stability PTFE (Teflon) dielectric, providing excellent signal clarity and thermal stability.
The cable is shielded by a silver-plated copper braid, which ensures high conductivity and exceptional RF isolation at high frequencies. Encased in a durable FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene) jacket, RG-179 can operate in extreme temperatures ranging from -55°C to +200°C. Its combination of a 75 Ohm impedance and miniature form factor makes it the industry standard for internal video routing in digital cameras, medical monitors, and aerospace video systems. It is most commonly terminated with 75 Ohm BNC, DIN 1.0/2.3, or SMA connectors.
Key Technical Advantages
-
Sub-Miniature Form Factor: The thin profile allows for high-density cabling in tight spaces, such as equipment racks, camera gimbals, and medical diagnostic tools.
-
Exceptional Thermal Resistance: The PTFE/FEP construction ensures consistent performance in high-heat environments where standard PVC video cables would fail.
-
Silver-Plated Performance: Both the conductor and the braid are silver-plated to maximize conductivity and provide superior resistance to corrosion and signal degradation.
-
75 Ohm Precision: Specifically matched for video and telecommunications standards, minimizing signal reflections and ensuring maximum power transfer for digital signals.
-
High Chemical Immunity: The FEP jacket is highly resistant to oils, chemicals, and moisture, making it suitable for industrial and medical sterilization environments.
