Description
RG-180 is a specialized sub-miniature coaxial cable designed for 95 Ohm systems, a standard often used in specific data processing and high-speed digital applications. Unlike more common 50 or 75 Ohm cables, RG-180 is engineered to provide precise impedance matching for legacy mainframe connections and sensitive medical diagnostic equipment. The cable features a silver-plated copper-clad steel (SPCCS) center conductor, which provides high tensile strength and superior conductivity at high frequencies.
The internal architecture consists of a high-stability PTFE (Teflon) dielectric, which ensures low signal loss and excellent phase stability. To maintain signal integrity, the cable is shielded by a high-density silver-plated copper braid, providing exceptional RF isolation and resistance to corrosion. Encased in a transparent or tinted FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene) jacket, RG-180 is built to withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -55°C to +200°C, making it ideal for aerospace and industrial environments where standard cables would degrade.
Key Technical Advantages
-
Specialized 95 Ohm Impedance: Specifically designed for applications requiring a 95 Ohm match, preventing signal reflections and ensuring maximum data integrity in compatible systems.
-
Extreme Thermal Stability: The PTFE/FEP construction allows for reliable operation in high-heat environments or near engine components in aerospace applications.
-
Silver-Plated Performance: Both the conductor and the shielding are silver-plated to maximize conductivity via the “skin effect” and ensure long-term reliability against oxidation.
-
Ultra-Compact Form Factor: The small outer diameter (approximately 3.6mm) allows for high-density routing in complex electronic assemblies and tight equipment racks.
-
Superior Chemical Resistance: The FEP jacket is highly resistant to chemicals, oils, and moisture, making it suitable for medical sterilization and harsh industrial settings.
