The 3/8″ radiating cable is a versatile “middle-ground” solution, providing significantly higher flexibility than larger 7/8″ or 1-1/4″ cables while offering better power handling and lower attenuation than 1/4″ variants. This cable uses a physically foamed Polyethylene (PE) dielectric and a slotted copper foil or corrugated copper outer conductor to create a consistent radiation pattern.

In environments like underground railways or mines, these cables eliminate the “dead zones” typical of point-source antennas. They are almost always jacketed in Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) or fire-retardant materials to meet safety standards for public and underground infrastructure. The slots are engineered to provide a specific coupling loss (the ratio between power inside the cable and power received by a mobile unit nearby), ensuring stable communication for emergency services and private networks alike.
