Description

 The 2.4mm interface was developed specifically to eliminate the “moding” issues found in SMA and 2.92mm connectors at higher frequencies. This adapter utilizes an air dielectric and a thickened outer wall to provide superior mechanical stability and a mode-free signal path up to 50 GHz. While it is mechanically compatible with 1.85mm (V-type) connectors, it is not compatible with SMA, 3.5mm, or 2.92mm without a dedicated inter-series adapter.

Most professional-grade 2.4mm adapters are manufactured from passivated stainless steel with gold-plated beryllium copper center contacts for maximum conductivity and a high mating cycle life. They are frequently used as port savers on expensive test equipment like Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs) to prevent wear on the internal ports.
